Orange County Engagement Photography Location – Heisler Park
With over 2700 miles of coastline along the California Coast, couples and photographers are bound to find great locations to photograph their engagement pictures. One particular beach in California, which is ideal for engagement as well
as wedding photography, is located in Southern California; Orange County to be exact.
Heisler Park, in Laguna Beach is perhaps one of the most favored spots in SoCal for photographers to congregate and capture those special moments between a couple. And what makes this beach particularly attractive for photos? Aside from it’s location, which happens to be the main reason, Heisler Park and its beach provide picturesque spots other beaches in SoCal don’t offer. With it’s well manicured lawn and palm trees, the park offers a beautiful, tropical backdrop for any style photography one is seeking. In addition, the beach, located at the base of the park, offers plenty of beach as well as rocks photographers could use to pose their subjects.
During the summer months, you can find a half dozen or more photographers jockeying for position, awaiting the setting sun for that final shot of the engaged couple or bride and groom. Whether you’re partial to photographing on the sand, in the water, or on the rocks, you’ll be more than pleased with the location at Heisler Park.
Back up top at the park, photographers and couples have the option of photographing on the lush green grass, or a park bench, overlooking the ocean and beach. It’s also not uncommon to make several wardrobe changes while shooting. If you find that your photographer has requested a few changes during your photo session, Heisler Park does have two, clean, restroom facilities which you could use to make the change from one outfit to the next.
If you’re headed toward Laguna Beach in Orange County for your engagement photography session, bring plenty of quarters; parking is by meter only. If you happen to forget your change, don’t worry, they do have a change machine and meters do accept credit card.
While the summer months can be warm and the park can get crowded with visitors (making parking a bit of a challenge), Southern California Wedding Photography recommends taking your engagement photos during the late Fall or during Winter. You will have an easier time getting parking and the beach won’t be as crowded. One last note, at the time of this writing, the City of Laguna Beach currently does not charge for a permit to shoot on the beach, like some other Orange County beaches.

SoCal Wedding Photography Listed On
I have photographed plenty of couples and families at this very same location. One thing, however, I would like to point out is that the Park has a great Gazebo for weddings and engagement shots. It’s worth mentioning because it’s a popular spot. I think you can rent it out for weddings though.
You’re correct Ryan, the gazebo is a great spot for couples to get married. I do believe there is a fee, but it’s very small to use the spot or even be married on teh beach.
