Romantic Valentines Day Wedding Photography
Valentines 2009 falls on a Saturday, and weddings performed on that day should be a special occasion; not just because it’s Valentines Day, but because you won’t see another Valentines day for at least 6 years until the year 2015. What a unique opportunity for couples looking for a truly special day to get married on!
While it is a unique day and it departs from the standard “Saturday Wedding”, brides and grooms may want to take advantage of some unique wedding photo opportunities. If you hire a professional, you will want to discuss with them some of your desired photo shots. Actually, most professional wedding photographers should already be in the mind set to capture the special valentines moments. I’ll just list a few of my tips and hopefully you will find them of use.
Wedding Photography Tips for your Valentines Wedding:
- Make sure if you are going to have “special” favors such as hearts that those are photographed.
- I think color is important and red is the call for the day…well so is pink and white. I would try to incorporate as much of the color as possible in to the photography.
- A great photo would be to have the wedding rings photographed against a heart favor or if you are using a heart shaped ring pillow.
- If you’re using a heart shaped pillow, perhaps a photo of that in the foreground and the couple slightly blurred in the background while embraced in a kiss.
- Make sure you get lots of romantic photos of the day.
- One of my favorite wedding photos is the image above. It’s a romantic photo of a couple sitting at a dinner table with the fireplace. To me it sets the mood of an evening of romance on valentines day. If available, you may want to try an recreate the shot. (I personally like romantic, cozy images of couples. It shows the love between them.)
- Be sure and have your wedding photographer get lots of photos of family and couples. You could use these as thank you gifts. If your the photographer reading this, it’s a great way to make some extra money since couples will be attending the wedding on valentines day and they would love to have a photo of them on that date.

This is a very good article. Thanks. I have another suggestion: I think a focus on the wedding rings would make for a great valentine day photo since lots of couples do get engaged on Valentines, I think that the rings are more significant that particular day. Just a suggestion.
Great tip Erika! Thanks for the comment.
